Metal was the first substrate we tackled in the MATS Home Decor class I took. This was the easiest for me as I earned my BFA in Metal Arts at CCA(C). I have a metal screen printed constellation box with enamel gemstone, a cast bronze swan trinket dish with a cloisonne beak and neck stripes. My favorite piece is the life sized cast iron hand jewelry stand with cloisonne manicure, enamel gemstone and brass ring, cloisonne tattoo that says "Let them eat cake" in French and the cast bronze ruffle cuff which creates a trinket dish at the base of the hand. Lastly, the screen printed brass tray with picture hooks on the back to have it double as wall art.
I visited Versailles for the first time in June and was completely bowled over by it. While I was there I decided that I wanted to do a modern take on it. My Le Reve Collection was inspired by the palace and Marie Antoinette. I wanted it to feel quirky, eclectic yet glamorous and luxe with lots of jewels, lots of gold, sumptuous fabrics and cake!
