My goal was to make it into the top 50 in the Global Talent Search this year but I hadn't considered what would happen if I actually did it. I gave myself a day to absorb it all... I really needed to. I was in shock!
In Round 2 we were asked to design a tin to be sold in a cool hip store in Brooklyn. I decided on a cookie tin, recipe box and a third tin for cookie cutters. I wanted to go for pretty with a little wink of quirk. Of course I also slathered everything in gold because, you know, gold is awesome. I thought it was hilarious to have the stud of the bird kingdom saying "Gimme Some Sugar" on a cookie tin. I had initially added a Mike Tyson style tattoo around his eye and was literally crying tears of laughter. By myself. In the middle of the night. Yah, I do that sometimes. I ended up removing it at the last minute though because it wouldn't be funny unless it was recognized for what was and if it wasn't, it would just look like bad taste. Womp womp.
I decided on a Birds and the Bees theme for the cookie cutters to go along with the saucy peacock tin and rounded it out with a pretty recipe box complete with constellations and fireflies on top and of course recipe cards.
I loved this brief! It was super fun... I certainly laughed a lot. I hope you can see it in the final result.
From here five people will be picked to go to the third and final round. They'll also include a fan favorite, so be sure to cast your vote this week.
