This was my round 3 submission for the finals in Lilla Rogers' Global Talent Search. I created a gift line to be sold in a tea shop. It was based on a "tea leaf reading" trend board we were given for inspiration.
Today the second round gallery was revealed in Lilla Rogers' Global Talent Search and it is AMAZING!! We were asked to design the cover of a dessert cookbook. I knew right away that I wanted to have a birdseye perspective looking over a table filled with desserts, the fortune telling cups from the first round, a variety of patterned dishes, doilies, flowers and a dash of gold. Lilla gave us the option to draw people but I opted to draw hands instead. I can draw people but they seem more appropriate for artwork geared towards kids. This assignment was so fun.
Note to self: Make more food illustrations.
Voting is open to the public for round two: You can cast your vote for your five faves here.
Yay!!! I am so thrilled to announce that my fortune telling cup made it into the semi-finals of the Global Talent Search!!! They chose 50 participants out of 1,000 to go to next round.
You can see the top 50 here.
It's GTS time again!! The assignment for Lilla Rogers' Global Talent Search this year was to design a teacup, saucer and paper napkin for a pastry shop. I thought it would be fun and novel to read your tea leaves after enjoying a cuppa. I did a lot of research on tasseography/tasseomancy and the different types of cups that are offered on the market. I found several listed as fortune telling cups or cups of destiny... There are lots of cool vintage versions available out there. I came across some with patterns on the inside but it would require a book or at least a language heavy napkin to go along with it. My solution was to create this hybrid that had two symbols per prophecy and that all the info needed to read your future was in the cup itself.
I believe there are around 1,000 contestants. The top 50 artists will be announced this coming Friday, August 19th. They will be given a second assignment at that point. The competition is stiff to say the least. The talent pool is bananas!
Good luck to all!
