Our third bootcamp assignment was to create an editorial piece that would be paired with an article that we were given to read. The story described the difficulty some beginners face with their wandering minds when they first start meditating.
I do not practice meditation myself, that wandering mind of mine always wins, but I tried to imagine what it must be like getting to the quiet center of yourself. I was inspired by a famous quote from (my boyfriend) Carl Sagan... Yes, I am a science groupie.
“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
Man alive, I love that.
I used a royalty-free image from Nasa depicting a Large Magellanic Cloud to create the star-stuff that is at the center of us all. I'll leave you with one more quote from that hunk-of-burning-love, Neil deGrasse Tyson:
“We are all connected; To each other, biologically. To the earth, chemically. To the rest of the universe atomically.”
Doesn't that make you feel almighty?!
